Our Barnstable High School Red Raider Family was stunned and saddened to learn last night of the unexpected death due to sudden illness of our beloved manager, mentor, coach, and friend Lance Andrews-Rose, affectionately known to all as “Coach Lee”.

A steadfast, hardworking, and committed mentor of Barnstable youth throughout his managing and coaching career, Coach Lee was a man with a mission — to teach boys and young men the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, drive, passion, and commitment through excellence in athletics. In doing so, Coach Lee also unknowingly taught everyone he touched the potential giftedness in all people.

Beyond his contributions to Barnstable High School Football, Coach Lee was a manager and assistant coach of the Red Raider Lacrosse and Hockey teams. Through his exhaustive work ethic, Coach Lee also coached basketball at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center. In short, Coach Lee committed his entire life to benefit the children of Barnstable.

In addition to Coach Lee’s exhaustive volunteerism, he was a valued and hardworking employee at the Veteran’s Affairs offices in Hyannis where he worked on the cleaning crew. Coach Lee took his job very seriously, recognizing the importance that the building be spotless for the benefit of our honored veterans served there.

As we remember Coach Lee, our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and all who loved him. When we learn of support efforts to assist Coach Lee’s family and memorial information, we will be sure to pass it along.
