Head Coach Chris Whidden announced this week that seniors Sean Ford and Jack Pipatti will serve as team captains of the 2015 Barnstable High School Red Raiders football team. Both young men were voted to be this year’s team leaders through the overwhelming support of their teammates. Student leaders off the gridiron as well as on, multi-sport athletic scholars Sean Ford and Jack Pipatti share the academic distinction of membership in the National Honor Society. Together in football since childhood, both Sean and Jack have distinguished award winning football careers both as Barnstable Red Raiders and Barnstable Silver Bullets.
Let’s meet this year’s Barnstable High School Red Raiders football captains!
Sean Ford
As a Barnstable Silver Bullet for seven years, Sean Ford played both sides of the ball as a linebacker and offensive guard. His team leadership skills developed early, as well as his outstanding sportsmanship. He was awarded the Frank Finn Sportsmanship Award as a Midget.
While playing as a Red Raider, Sean has excelled as a linebacker. This year his role with the team will be expanded, Sean now also playing H-Back in the offensive formation. An “Iron Raider”, Sean is a member of the 800 Club. As such, he is consistently able to deadlift, bench and squat (combined) a minimum total of 800 pounds. Sean has been a multi-season athlete since elementary school – starting with soccer, then baseball, football, wrestling, as well as both winter and summer lacrosse.
An Honor Roll student, Sean Ford is a Challenge Day Leader for both Junior and Senior year, a Student Council Representative for both junior and senior year, and a Peer Leader for senior year. He will also attain the high distinction of becoming an Eagle Scout on Sept. 15th.
Sean is the son of Christine and James Ford of Centerville.
Jack Pipatti
As a Barnstable Silver Bullet for six years, Jack Pipatti was a highly versatile football player, excelling in several positions on both sides of the ball, including center and quarterback. Awarded the William “Red” Dacey Award as both a Pee Wee and a Midget, Jack was highly acclaimed and respected for his sportsmanship, leadership and play on the field.
As a Red Raider, last season Jack Pipatti lettered as a safety, filling in also at full back as the need arose. Also an “Iron Raider” and 800 Club member, Jack is consistently able to deadlift, bench and squat (combined) a minimum total of 800 pounds. He was awarded the Borsari Trophy for his steadfast dedication to the team. An outstanding lacrosse player, Jack has lettered four times in that sport, as well.
Jack Pipatti is an outstanding athletic scholar. Earning high honors every term of his high school career, with a GPA of 4.67, Jack is currently ranked #2 in the Class of 2016. He volunteers for Best Buddies and is an active member of the Key Club and Junior Classical League.
