Raiders Fall Short to Everett’s Crimson Tide

As they say, it’s never easy beating the same team twice in a season.

Thus, that’s how the chips fell for the Red & White at Gillette Stadium Saturday (Dec. 1), as the Everett Crimson Tide defeated the Red Raiders, 20-19, in the MIAA Div. 1A Super Bowl championship game.

Tedaro France scored all three of Barnstable’s touchdowns and finished with 19 on the season, giving him a lifetime point-total of 180 points. That mark ranks France as the third highest scorer in Barnstable Football history – tied with Class of 1981’s Brian Reid.

The Barnstable defense performed brilliantly, forcing five turnovers against the Tide. Andrew Ellis, Ryan Litchman, Bryan Hardy, Jon Eldredge, Jason Frieh (2 sacks), D.J. Gonsalves, Manny Dulak, Kevin Hardy, France (interception), Tom Grimmer, Marcus Cunningham (2 fumble recoveries), Dereck Pacheco (fumble recovery) and Derek Estes (interception) deserve a huge pat on the back for staying on the field for 75 plays.

Red Raider Nation Prepares for Super Bowl

All football players and cheerleaders going to Foxboro tomorrow are reminded to bring their ‘Gillette Stadium Release Agreement’ to their coach prior to departing for the Super Bowl.  No one will be able to participate at Gillette without this signed form.
Players and Cheerleaders are to see their coaches for this form.
Depending on the games before us, Barnstable vs Everett can start as early as 1:00 – or as late as 2:00….you never know – if a prior game goes quick – or if there are overtime games….so plan accordingly!!!

Tonight, the QBC is making sandwiches at the Hardy’s house at 7:00 PM. If you would like to drop off any drink or snack donations, please do so at that time. Please remember we are feeding all of the players, cheerleaders, coaches, trainers, media personnel and bus drivers. Any donations will be gratefully accpeted.

Super bowl Saturday, game is at 1:30 PM. Please follow all of the MIAA Super bowl rules. Please check out the MIAA website at MIAA.net and click on the “Important Information Regarding Super bowl Games at Gillette Stadium” Leave plenty of time to arrive on time!

LET’S GO RAIDERS!!

Red Raiders Avenged: Defeat L-S Warriors and Earn Trip to the EMass. Div. 1A Super Bowl!

History has an uncanny way of repeating itself.

Yes, Barnstable High won the 1999 Super Bowl versus BC High for its second such title in the span of five seasons, but it was in 1995 that the Red & White went 11-0 and captured the Div. 1A Super Bowl over New Bedford by a score of 11-0. And yes, that game was held where? At Taunton High School. Same field. Same record. One game to go for glory.

The number 11 seems to be lucky for the Red Raiders, who in 2012 are now 11-0, but it was not luck tonight that saw Barnstable avenge last year’s MIAA playoffs loss to Lincoln-Subdury. Tonight, Barnstable turned up its defense and turned its running attack on high speed as Barnstable defeated the Warriors on the same field as last year to the tune of a 28-7 whipping.

Thanks in large part to the offensive line led by senior center and captain Tom Grimmer, guards Chris Kennedy and Tom Harrington, and tackles Owen Murray and Allen Buckley. It was the offensive line that helped junior Hayden Murphy turn in his best varsity performance ever: 191 yards on 28 carries and three touchdowns. It was the most yards rushed in a single playoff game in Red Raider history.

Defensively, the performance was equally impressive. Led by senior linebacker and captain Andrew Ellis and fellow senior captain Ryan Litchman, Barnstable’s defense offered the Warriors just 16 yards in the first half and barely over 100 yards for the entire game. Jason Frieh (8.0 tackles), Jon Eldredge (interception), Kevin Hardy (Interception) and Tedaro France were equally impressive. It was Eldredge’s interception that literally proved to be the straw that broke the Warriors’ collective backs as it came at the L-S 26-yard line and was sandwiched between two 3rd quarter scores.

Barnstable heads to Gillette Stadium Saturday, December 1, at 1:30 pm to face the Everett Crimson Tide. Everett’s sole loss this season came at the hands of… the Barnstable High School Red & White !

Red Raiders Crush Clippers, 39-14

Heading into today’s 10:00 am Turkey Day tilt at W. Leo Shields Memorial Field, Barnstable and Falmouth remained deadlocked at 59-59-8 in 126 previous meetings between the two teams (some years, Barnstable played Falmouth twice).

When the dust finally settled on what looked like an early barnburner, Barnstable rose victorious, having staged a 39-14 victory. Barnstable’s 39 points scored set a new all-time record for most points scored in a season with 376. The former mark was set in 2010 at 372. Kristian Lucashensky’s 4th quarter touchdown helped set the new single-season team mark.

Junior running back Hayden Murphy ran for 130 yards on the day and BHS QB Nick Peabody went 9-18 for 155 yards and two TDs and he also scored one from the one-yard line. Manny Perry, Dylan Morris and Tedaro France (2) also scored for the Red & White. BHS now awaits the time and place for Tuesday’s playoff game versus Lincoln-Sudbury.
